Bideford

Holiday Details

Durrant House Hotel | Half-board | 5 days | 03/07 /2015 The little town of Bideford, located on the west bank of the River Torridge, where the river begins to widen to form the estuary, was Britain's third largest port in the 16th Century and has been welcoming visitors for centuries. It has a thriving shopping centre, which includes antiques shops scattered amongst the narrow backstreets and alleyways. It is a market town, with an historic Pannier Market holding both produce and crafts markets each Tuesday and Saturday, and a working port with an active fishing industry. Sir Walter Raleigh is believed to have brought his first cargo of tobacco to Bideford and the town became one of the largest tobacco trading centres of the period.

Accomodation

Situated near the historical old port of Bideford with views over the Torridge estuary and beyond to the sandy beaches of Instow, this hotel is perfectly located to explore the beautiful rugged coastline, glorious sandy beaches and rolling countryside of North Devon.
