Excursion to Portsmouth & the Mary Rose: A beautiful waterfront city and home to the world’s oldest dry dock that is still in use today. Take advantage of the fantastic shopping on offer, enjoy the thriving arts scene and fantastic cafes that line the pavements. there is something to please everyone in Portsmouth. At the heart of the city is the Historic dockyard where you could take a harbour cruise to see the naval ships and harbour fortifications from the water. We have included a timed entry to the new £27 million Mary Rose Museum providing one of the most significant insights into Tudor life in the world. The Tudor ship captured the world’s imagination when she was raised from the seabed in 1982 and is the only sixteenth century warship on display anywhere in the world. Excursion to Winchester: After breakfast, we head to the historic cathedral city of Winchester where you will have free time to take in the sights. Why not visit Winchester cathedral, Winchester college or St cross Hospital, all of which are interesting attractions. The great Hall, which is all that survives of Winchester's castle, is worth a visit. We leave Winchester and either head back to the hotel or home, depending on your package.
