Costa Brava, Spain

Holiday Details

Tossa Beach Hotel | Half board, with 3 hour free bar each evening in main stay hotel | 9 days | 24/05/2015

Britain’s love affair with Spain started with the picturesque Costa Brava. Made up of a dramatic coastline, hiding some superb sandy bays and coves, golden beaches, deep blue waters, pretty harbours and charming little towns and villages. This lovely part of Spain is a great holiday destination. It really is no wonder that we like it so much!

One of the prettiest resorts on the Costa Brava, with its medieval walled fortress standing guard over the bay, quaint cobbled streets and charming stone houses, the resort of Tossa de Mar still retains all the charm of an old fishing village. Relax on the warm sandy beaches, stroll along the promenade and perhaps enjoy a drink overlooking the sea in one of the many bars and restaurants.

Things to do: Enjoy the resort’s beautiful beaches and sweeping bays; see the Dali Museum in Figueras; a visit to Gerona’s beautiful historic Jewish quarter is a delight.

The 4 star Hotel Tossa Beach Centre in the heart of Tossa de Mar is just 150 metres from the beach and a few minutes’ walk from the narrow streets of the Old Town. There is entertainment day and night, plus a 3 hour free bar every night! Facilities include a restaurant with buffet service for breakfast and dinner, 2 bars, 2 swimming pools with sun terrace, Jacuzzi and snack bar. There is a games room, TV lounge, laundry and Wi-Fi (local charge). There are also activities such as: quiz games, dart competitions and other games. The bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning (mid June to mid September), central heating, telephone, satellite TV, balcony or terrace, bathroom with bath/shower, hairdryer, safety deposit box and fridge for hire. Excursion to Barcelona: The Catalonian capital and one-time host to the Olympic Games boasts a wealth of attractions for the visitor. The grace of the city’s buildings are immediately identifiable, from Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia Cathedral to the courtyard of the Episcopal Palace. Barcelona’s museums and galleries are world-famous and seemingly endless. Stroll along the tree-lined Ramblas, filled with shops, cafes and bars. End the day with a glass of cool sangria….

Excursion to Cadaques and Figueras: The fashionable, whitewashed resort of Cadaques is a great excursion from our resort. The village and the surrounding area have a special magic to them. Cadaques is also the place where the Salvador Dali family chose to spend their summer holidays. Figueras houses one of Spain’s most important art museums, which is dedicated to the surrealist, Salvador Dali. Visit the bizarre exhibitions of his great work displayed inside. (Thursday is ‘Market Day’ in Figueras).

Excursion to Girona: Enjoy a refreshing break from the beach. Wander around the cool, narrow streets, which house some lively bars, restaurants and typically Spanish shops. We also find a well-preserved Jewish quarter and a medieval cathedral.
