Great Yarmouth

Holiday Details

Royal Hotel| Half-Board | 5 days | 02/11/2015 | Great Yarmouth is one of the UK’s most popular seaside resorts, with an enviable mix of sandy beaches, attractions, entertainment and heritage. Full of holiday surprises and contrasts, the resort is set amidst beautiful coastal and rural surroundings, alongside the famous Norfolk Broads. When the sun goes down, Great Yarmouth becomes a wonderland of colour, as the illuminations light up the town. Behind the glitter and lights lies a charming town, steeped in history. Discover one of the most complete medieval walls in England, the historic South Quay and Nelson’s ‘other’ column.

The Royal Hotel is situated on Great Yarmouth’s seafront, close to the pier and resort attractions, and has super sea views. The famous writer, Charles Dickens, spent time at the Royal Hotel whilst writing the novel David Copperfield. The hotel was also patronized by Edward VII, with the original Edward VII crest still on the front of the hotel. Facilities at the Royal include a restaurant, bar, gardens, lounge and lift. Bedrooms offer en-suite, colour TV and tea/coffee making facilities.

Excursion to Norwich: Join coach for an excursion to Norwich, the most complete medieval city in Britain. Norwich boasts fascinating museums, a magnificent cathedral, a Norman castle, ancient pubs, cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, a jumble of medieval lanes and a delightful old ‘Watergate’, down by the riverside. Admire attractive buildings such as Dragon Hall, the Guildhall and 17th century Pulls Ferry, with its 15th century arch over the former canal, where the ferries used to run. Wander through historic streets, such as Pottergate and Timber Hill and see their old buildings and unusual shops. Excursion to Cromer and the Norfolk Broads: Today we have an excursion to the Norfolk Broads, now the UK’s largest nationally protected wetland, and an important area for wildlife. The Broads were formed when people dug for peat in medieval times and then they were flooded. The Victorians used them for transporting heavy loads, but nowadays they are here purely for pleasure. We make a stop at the picturesque village of Wroxham and at the Victorian seaside resort of Cromer, a gorgeous town with a pier, museums, wide open beaches, spectacular cliffs and Victorian charm. Don’t forget to sample the crab!
