Talbot Carlow Hotel | Half-board | 5 days | 22/06/2015 Ireland is one of our most sought after destinations and continues to grow in popularity. With great food, friendly people, beautiful countryside’s and the warm welcome of the Irish pubs make it feel like a second home! County Carlow itself has a wealth of scenery to be enjoyed and the waterways have been important throughout history for travel and trade. Today visitors come to Carlow to experience the traditional rural life, vibrant shopping and rich cultural heritage. Located on the banks of the River Barrow, Carlow town is a bustling market centre, serving a large rural area. One of the most impressive pieces of architecture in the town has a very interesting background; it is believed that the courthouse on Carlow Street, modelled on the Parthenon in Athens, was originally meant for Cork, but the building plans became mixed up! Interesting facts: Carlow is one of Ireland’s most charming inland counties; it is thousands of years old and pre-dates Irish history.

Talbot Carlow Hotel The 4* Talbot Hotel Carlow is the ideal base whether you are traveling on business or pleasure, in need of a fun packed family break or simply to enjoy a relaxed weekend break. The local area is packed with leisure amenities and historic sites so visitors can enjoy a range of activities including golf, angling, shopping and site seeing. Guests can enjoy all of the facilities expected in a four star hotel in addition to complimentary WIFI internet connection, tea & coffee making facilities and hairdryer in all bedrooms and free secure car parking on-site.

Excursion to Dublin: An early start today for a full-day excursion to Dublin. As well as fine architecture, the city has a great artistic and literary heritage, with a host of museums and galleries. Shopping is a wonderful experience around O’Connell Street and over the Ha’penny Bridge, in fashionable Grafton Street. The fabulous pub atmosphere, with its humorous ‘craic’, is quite unique, and the locally brewed Guinness really does taste better! Whatever your choice, you’ll find plenty to see and do in ‘Dublin’s Fair City’! Excursion to Kilkenny: Today we make for medieval Kilkenny. Said to be Ireland's loveliest inland city, Kilkenny is full of history, and very picturesque, with attractive, narrow streets. Time perhaps to visit the castle, an original Norman fortress overlooking the River Nore. Or you could stop for a drink in Kyteler's Inn, a medieval coaching inn once inhabited by Dame Alice Kyteler - a 14th-century witch! Excursion Wicklow Mountains (‘Ballykissangel Country’): Experience the scenic beauty of the Wicklow Mountains, which have attracted visitors for centuries. We travel, via Tullow and Arklow, to Avoca, the setting for ‘Ballykissangel’, and home to Ireland’s oldest working mill. Visitors can watch the weavers produce beautiful tweeds before viewing the finished product in the shop. Continuing North through the Vales of Avoca and Clara, we pass the ‘Meeting of the Waters’ at Glendalough, the site of an early Christian settlement, founded by St Kevin in the 6th century.
