All Packages INCLUDE an ‘Around the Island’ Tour. ‘Around The Island’ Tour: Rounding the Island, we pass through the superbly positioned village of Ventnor, one of the sunniest spots on the Island which is built on a series of terraces that climb steeply towards St Boniface Down. Here you can see the spectacular views across the Bay. From here, we move on, passing through the Island’s southernmost tip and the village of Chale, before arriving at Alum Bay. The sandstone cliffs here are made up of twenty-one colours and it is from here that the Island’s most notable feature can be most clearly seen - the ‘Needles’, three giant chalk stacks, one of which is crowned with a lighthouse. Following this we leave Alum Bay and we visit Yarmouth, a quiet town with a pretty harbour, stone quays, old houses and a 16th century castle built by Henry VIII. Package 1: Around the Island & Ryde Excursion to Ryde: The largest town on the Island, Ryde has fine Georgian and Victorian buildings, shops, tea-rooms, pubs, restaurants, and a marina. The sea-wall promenade provides a popular walk, passing the Victorian watchtower on the way to Puckpool Park. Package 2: Around the Island & Osborne House Excursion to Osborne House: We visit Osborne House (admission included), the seaside retreat of Queen Victoria that was also designed by Prince Albert. Here you can explore this sumptuous ltalianate villa and its beautiful grounds, preserved as it was when the Queen died here in 1901.
