Holiday Details

Hotel Adria Resort | 02/04/2016 | 8 days

Enchanting Lake Garda has attracted people since the beginning of civilization. It is surrounded by an amphitheatre of precipitous mountain sides that plunge into its deep blue waters. Verdant valleys grow lemons, oranges, limes, olives and many subtropical flora. Along its shores are resplendent little villages, villas and majestic ancient towns with a rich display of classical architecture. Coupled with an exceptionally mild climate is Lake Garda’s close proximity to the romantic cities of Verona and Venice. The beautiful lakeside towns have charmed visitors for years and are pretty, pleasant places to stay. The resort of Toscolano Maderno, on the lake’s ‘Riviera of Lemons’, is set amidst the most illustrious lakeside lands, and nestled atop a wide promontory, between the romantic port of Toscolano and the Gulf of Maderno. Crowned with evergreens and Mediterranean plants, and dating back to Roman times, Maderno and Toscolano have town squares with ancient churches, with bars, shops and cafes along the lakefront. A stroll brings you to the harbour, where you can sit and watch life on the lake go by. Thursday is market day here.

Romeo & Juliet Verona is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful cities you will ever see and is most famous for being the setting of Shakespeare’s legendary play. Today, the city is a Unesco World Heritage Site. Explore the narrow streets lined with impressive medieval and Renaissance buildings and the spectacular Roman Arena, the city’s grandest sight. However, for many, ‘Juliet’s Balcony’ is the main point of interest. Venice Visit the most romantic city in the world. This fabulous floating city has a host of famous sights; visit Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs or the Rialto Bridge. Or simply explore the narrow streets, enjoy a little shopping and watch the world go by from a pavement café in St Mark’s Square. Lakeside Gems Sit back and relax as you take a scenic drive around the beautiful and diverse lakeside towns of Lake Garda. If Sirmione with its picturebook castle is the most stunning of all the towns on the lake, then Peschiera is one of its most historic, sitting within the walls of an impressive island fortress, surrounded by canals and dotted with bridges.
