There’s also Durham, with ‘the finest Norman Cathedral in the world’. The area has been home to pioneers across the centuries; the world’s first public railway steamed into life here, and the award-winning Gateshead Millennium Bridge is one of the world’s most celebrated pieces of architecture. The North East is filled with naturally friendly, people who will make time to tell you about the place that fills them with pride. We stay at the Britannia Hotel, Newcastle, promising a warm welcome, great facilities and a high standard of accommodation and service.   • Durham: First we visit the historic city of Durham, with its magnificent cathedral perched high above the River Wear, and the Norman Castle nearby. There are lots of little streets to explore, along with pleasant riverside strolls.
  • Northumbrian Coast: Included tour of the Northumbrian Heritage Coast, one of Britain’s most scenic and unspoilt coastlines. We begin in Alnwick, a picturesque market town. Alnwick Castle is the largest inhabited castle in England after Windsor Castle and has been the backdrop for T.V. and films including Harry Potter. Then, tides and weather permitting, we visit Holy Island and Lindisfarne, famed as the birthplace of English Christianity. Later, we visit Bamburgh, home of the magnificent Bamburgh Castle, overlooking the seafront.
  • Newcastle: Newcastle and Gateshead face each other across the River Tyne, coming together at the dazzling Quayside. The area is awash with restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels and must-see attractions. Rich in culture, architecture and history, with a great reputation for style and shopping, the breadth and scope of things to see and do in Newcastle surprises even the well-travelled visitors. Enjoy wonderful food, and relax in pavement cafes, traditional pubs and contemporary bars.


  • Day 1: Join the coach and head to our resort. Check-in at our chosen hotel, with dinner and an evening at leisure.
  • Days 2 - 4: At leisure in resort with three INCLUDED excursions. Breakfasts and dinners.
  • Day 5: Breakfast and we board our coach for the return journey. Arrive home later today.
