In addition to these cultural highlights, this break also includes a delightful journey to colourful Whitby and through the picturesque ‘Heartbeat Country’. Accomodation

Britannia Grand Hotel The Scarborough Grand Hotel remains unique, with many of its original Victorian features playing their part in making yours a great break. The hotel is one of Scarborough’s greatest landmarks. Situated in the town centre, this stately building overlooks the South Bay and harbour. Without a doubt the views from the hotel’s Harbour Restaurant are among the finest on this coast- an ideal setting to relax and enjoy Scarborough and the surrounding area. The resident entertainment team and visiting cabaret provide great nightly music and dancing.

Excursions

Excursion to York: Still encircled by its ancient walls, York was one of the great cities of the medieval world. The city is dominated by the soaring pinnacles of York Minster, the finest Gothic church in northern Europe. From narrow streets, lively with chic cafés and specialist shops, to trips on its tree-lined river, York is a ‘treasure house’ for visitors. Excursion to Whitby & 'Heartbeat Country': Today we tour through the dramatic North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Passing Robin Hood’s Bay, we also visit the fishing town of Whitby. With its quaint, old cobbled streets, and picturesque houses standing on the steep slopes of the River Esk, Whitby is dominated by its cliff-top abbey; the narrow streets and alleys climb down to the quays of this seafaring town. We return through ‘Heartbeat Country’, calling at Goathland and the pretty town of Pickering, with its splendid Norman castle.
