Weymouth & Dorset

Holiday Details

The popular south-coast resort and port town of Weymouth owes its early prominence to King George III’s frequent visits. Subsequently described by the famous writer, Thomas Hardy, as a ’Royal Watering Place’, today’s resort offers a more gentle holiday experience than that of some of its more boisterous south-coast neighbours. Delightfully manicured parks and gardens, a sweeping esplanade, bustling harbour and an award-winning beach are amongst Weymouth’s attractions, whilst the area itself provides many day excursion opportunities, both along the coast and farther inland (much of this part of Dorset is designated an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ and offers some super little towns and villages)...

Excursions

Excursion to Bournemouth & Poole: The ’Garden by the Sea’ remains one of the UK’s leading holiday spots. Clean and green, Bournemouth offers wonderful golden sands, award-winning gardens, great entertainment and a mild climate. For you relaxation you can stroll along the long, level seafront or pier. Poole has strong maritime connections, superb sailing and a bustling harbour. Enjoy the ‘old town’s’ mix of Georgian and medieval buildings, several museums, and bustling bars and eateries.   Excursion to Dorchester: A delightful market town filled with some of the strangest and most interesting museums in England, the award winning Dinosaur Museum, the Tutankhamun Exhibition (a spectacular re-creation of Tutankhamun’s tomb and treasures), the Terracotta Warriors Museum, the Dorset County Museum boasting the largest Thomas Hardy collection in the world and the Dorset Teddy Bear Museum. There is much to see & do in Dorchester, it is also the ideal place to have cream tea.
